Hi, can you protect Robert Taylor (footballer, born 1994), he is a footballer playing with Messi and the page is getting vandalized. Thanks! CubanoBoi (talk) 02:21, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

Revisions semi-protected page: Dadvan Yousuf
Hi Ingenuity, Due to a "conflict of interest" I cannot edit the Wikipedia page of Dadvan Yousuf which was put under semi-protection by you. I ask you to look at the "talk" section of Dadvan Yousuf's Wikipedia page for the suggestions I shared please. The page has some wrong information that must be corrected.
I hope you can take a look at this so that together we can restore the neutrality of the page. 94.200.195.18 (talk) 14:12, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

IngenuityBot task 2
Hello, could task 2 of IngenuityBot be modified to put dates in the appropriate format for an article rather than always using ISO date format? You can check for {{use dmy dates}} or {{use mdy dates}} to determine the appropriate format to use. Thanks Keith D (talk) 11:55, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hey @Keith D. This isn't really necessary, since if one of those templates is present on the page, the citations will auto-format to use that template.
- For example, the code
{{use dmy dates}} {{cite web|title=Test|url=https://example.com|website=Example|date=2023-01-01}}
- will display as
- "Test". Example. 1 January 2023. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:06, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- It may display correctly, but the wiki source is a bit of a hotchpotch of styles. I prefer to have them all the same rather than a mixture, makes things easier. Keith D (talk) 20:09, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I'll edit the code to look for these templates and format the date accordingly. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 20:13, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

Suspected block evasion
Hi! I know you have been blocking many vandals yesterday. But one seems to be in block evasion. You blocked a person on 5th August 2023 at 01:32 UTC. Coincidentally, after that, a 4 yr old account that was not used for a long time, started becoming super active since 20:47 UTC, 5 August 2023 till now, doing similar edits, on Manipur and Meitei people related topics. This person got my attention because of the multiple warnings in their talk page, becoming very similar to the previously blocked one, regarding behaviour. Haoreima (talk) 22:19, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

You don't need to be a clerk or anything to do that. Cheers, and thanks! Reaper Eternal (talk) 15:22, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

News and updates for administrators from the past month (July 2023).
Interface administrator changes
- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.
- The SmallCat dispute arbitration case is in the workshop phase.

Website Links
Whether or not adding website links is appropriate for an "encyclopedia," like Wikipedia is "questionable," because in today's day and age, complete information is the best way to go, no matter what! It makes life so much easier to find whatever it is you're looking for. I've visited NUMEROUS websites that had almost nothing on them, but MOST websites have just about everything, and that's a good thing! 2600:8805:9017:EE00:4D6D:70EB:D138:9F17 (talk) 16:07, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

Converted restriction to partial block
Hey, just wanted to let you know that I converted @Neutralhomer:'s (courtesy ping) email ER into a partial block, this also ensures that they wouldn't accidentally violate the restriction. --qedk (t 愛 c) 14:50, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- TPS and all, but QEDK, you can't accidentally email someone. I'd have liked to think it would have sufficed as a matter of trust. And what about emailing his onsite friends and colleagues? Are we honestly trying to ban him from talking to his friends? This one was the only pointless restriction among those Marshall suggested, and if I'd seen it in time, I certainly would have pushed back against it. SN54129 15:02, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Tbf, my block was meant to be purely procedural (although I botched it, which is a separate conversation). They can email anyone they want, just not on-wiki users, that is what the community editing restriction says. I personally have no footing to say what's right or not and was mostly not part of the entire scenario. Also, thanks for fixing the pblock, Ingenuity! --qedk (t 愛 c) 15:06, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- I tested on my alternate account and it looks like your block did work, but it looks like there's a bug in the "mark blocked" gadget that thinks it's a site-wide block for some reason. I also blocked Neutralhomer from the page WP:Emailing users, which appears to fix that problem. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:11, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- That makes sense, I did check the block log and it seemed normal, but quite confusing, yes. --qedk (t 愛 c) 15:29, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- That's not a pointless restriction, SN54129. Neutralhomer has a history of sending unwanted emails, and the most charitable spin on it that I can put is that he can't identify who will welcome an email from him and who won't.—S Marshall T/C 17:18, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- It's also something we shouldn't be attempting to arbitrate, particularly you. Anyway, my remarks were directed at the closing admin, who has satisfied my concerns, not with whoever invented them in the first place. Cheers, SN54129 17:28, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to Cornell study on Wikipedia discussions
Hello Ingenuity,
I’m reaching out as part of a Cornell University academic study investigating the potential for user-facing tools to help improve discussion quality within Wikipedia discussion spaces (such as talk pages, noticeboards, etc.).
We wanted to invite you to join the study because we see that as an admin you've had past experience enforcing Wikipedia's rules against personal attacks, which are the focus of our study.
The study centers around a prototype tool, ConvoWizard, which is designed to warn Wikipedia editors when a discussion they are replying to is getting tense and at risk of derailing into personal attacks or incivility. More information about ConvoWizard and the study can be found at our research project page on meta-wiki.
If this sounds like it might be interesting to you, you can use this link to sign up and install ConvoWizard. Of course, if you are not interested, feel free to ignore this message.
If you have any questions or thoughts about the study, our team is happy to discuss! You may direct such comments to me or to my collaborator, Cristian_at_CornellNLP.
Thank you for your consideration.

As you suggested, I'm asking here to see if you'd be willing to grant me the right! If you prefer, I can redirect myself to WP:PERM instead. Thanks very much. —Ganesha811 (talk) 23:58, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
- I've added the NPP right to your account. Have fun reviewing! If you'd like, there's an NPP Discord server where you can ask any questions you have. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 02:45, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Women in Green GA Editathon October 2023 - Around the World in 31 Days
Hello Ingenuity:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

New pages patrol newsletter
Hello Ingenuity,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

AddToBadImageList.js
Hey, I like your AddToBadImageList.js script. Could I ask a slight tweak, to prevent edits such as this, and retain the current sort order which places full stops before spaces? I achieve it with the thing in line 13 of this script. It makes so much more sense to me. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 14:45, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Should work now (though I haven't tested it). — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:01, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. I guess we'll probably have the opportunity to find out :) -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:08, 9 October 2023 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for the revert and block. I initially presumed a deliberate impersonation account against me (wouldn't be the first time) but thought I'd assume good faith. However their last edit summary would suggest otherwise. Canterbury Tail talk 18:40, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
False information in accepted AFC submissions
Hello. I came across this IP editor after noticing they added information about false chart performance at Who Framed Roger Rabbit (soundtrack). Looking through their contributions, I see you accepted multiple of their AFC submissions, including Terminator 2: Judgment Day (score), Lady and the Tramp (soundtrack), and The Iron Giant (soundtrack). Unfortunately, this IP user had added false information about chart performance before you accepted these AFC submissions during October 2022. I though I let you know that this hoax material was missed before it was published to mainspace. I am currently working through their contributions and removing any false chart performances that I find. Thank you. MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 01:44, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Can you give me a reason and tell me how to improve? For page Momcozy
Dear reviewer, thank you very much for your contribution to Wikipedia. Your professionalism is also the reason for Wikipedia's enduring popularity! I would like to ask why the Momcozy page I published was quickly deleted. Are there any problems with it? Can you give me corresponding guidance? It is not easy to write entries, nor is it easy to organize information. Can you tell me clearly where the problem is? Instead of deleting it directly, no corresponding basis was given.Looking forward to your reply. Thanks Z812483032 (talk) 00:35, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Subject on possible vandalism
Hello in January you told a user editing the Danielle Bernstein to stop editing as what they were doing wasn’t constructive, a day after the warning they removed most of the same section again, I tried reporting it but another admin told me I was abusing the report system because it wasn’t in a 24 hour time period, is there something you can do about this or do I have to watch the page daily incase they revert it again? Bobisland (talk) 20:41, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- I recently reverted their edit for context Bobisland (talk) 20:43, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- They haven't edited in eight months, so I don't think a block is appropriate at this point. If they revert again in the future, feel free to report them at WP:AIV. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 20:49, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- I got told I was abusing it because I didn’t report in a 24 hour time period can I just tell you and have you submit a report in my favor? Bobisland (talk) 20:54, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- AIV is meant to deal with recent vandalism. From its instructions: "there must be reasonable grounds to believe the user(s) will further disrupt the site in the immediate future". There's not really a point in blocking them now anyways - there's nothing preventing them from just creating another account to revert. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 13:57, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

Severo Ochoa
Hello Ingenuity,
Please, could you go to Severo Ochoa's page and correct the vandalisms that occurred on September 25?
I do not have the necessary tools and, furthermore, there are later editions that could be valid.

Request
Hello Ingenuity, I wanted to take part in the recent Vandal activities, however I couldn't since the requirements says I must have rollbacker rights or be included in the Whitelists. I believe it is too early for me to request for rollbacker rights since I had my permissions removed, so I was wondering if you could add me on the list or maybe check if I'm eligible for the rollbacker perm Thank you. dxneo (talk) 09:17, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi Ingenuity - thanks for acting on the revdel request. For your information, this is the second time that the user (User:Gazzapeal) added the content from that website, just in case any action is appropriate. I've left them a talk page notice for this one. B732 (talk) 17:06, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

November Articles for creation backlog drive
Hello Ingenuity:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
Garrett Camp page - proposed draft
Hi Ingenuity. I work for Garrett Camp. The page was subject to some BLP issues that have been addressed, however the remaining page is pretty skimpy. Back in July, I proposed a greatly expanded version that summarizes independent press and I think would be an improvement. One editor asked me to add page numbers to citations, reduce TechCrunch cites, etc. and I've implemented the feedback. I was hoping you might be willing to review the draft to see if it's ready for article-space. Please, let me know your thoughts. Best regards. John Pinette (talk) 17:11, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
